:-) No - I think you misunderstood (actually I wrote that sentence in some strange language (sic!) so you are excused ;-)

What I ask is why was it necessary to build this extra device. I Understood that he /had to/ build it (in order to do the disk imaging), rather than he just wanted to do it, even if it was not really necessary.
