After reading all the responses, I am not sure what was wanted, so I shall
just give the information I have.

PEEK(65288) on the Plus/4 and C16 gives 255.  This is a write only
register in the TED and gives 255 when read.  All other Commodore
computers have ROM at this location and return different values.
NOTE: on the C128 you must first POKE 981,15 and on the B series POKE
599,15 to set the PEEK to the ROM bank.

The PLUS/4 has a 6551 at FD00-FD0F which is not present in the C16.
The Plus/4 has a 6529B at FD10-FD1F and the C16 has a cassette port there.
Attempting to acces the registers on these chips could tell the difference
between these machines.
