Hi Christian,

i just scanned the "Testing the PET Computer" document that covers how 
it works. You can find it here:

The additional test programs referenced in the doc came on a set of 
tapes ( http://www.inchocks.co.uk/commodore/PET/Tapes.jpg ) most of 
which which you can find here:

Steve, I wrote a PET diagnostic routine which tests the RAM and CRC 
checksums the ROM's which you're welcome to include.
