No idea why they are sold as a pack of 2 Apparently the pack was directly
made by mos technology...

I thought it was for a specific use...

I also found 2 6529

This page says the 6523 can be used in U28 / U84 on the CBM-II serioes, and
in U3 on the 1551.

Whether the chip has more uses, I don't know. The chips Rob Clarke sourced
last year were 6525 and 6523A. I wonder if those on eBay came from the same
source.
