Of course you can use those blocks. Just the DOS can't because it does not handle the free block count correctly. I was actually wondering why they did it so in the DOS of 1571. One finds it hard to believe that in the times when storage was at a premium, they couldn't do better than just throwing away a good few KiBs from each disk.. -- SD!
