Back when the C16/Plus4 came out I was fascinated by the extended screen editor (ie: ESC+key functions and windowing). This was before the C128 came out. These are all based on the CBM-II screen editor routines I believe.
I attempted to create a C64 kernel with these features by disassembling the C16 kernel editor routines and patching them in the cassette area on the C64 kernel.
I had it mostly working but it would crash after a short period. If anyone is interested I could dig up my files.

That reminds me of something I read about the C64GS kernel actually having windowing routines built in. Has anyone disassembled the kernel to verify it?
