The 2031 (with ROMs 901484-03 at $C000 and 901484-05 at $E000) behaves
exactly like the 1540 and the 1541 with all available ROMs from
Commodore. There is no difference at all in the locations which handle
this.

If you are still not convinced, can you please tell us any sequence of
actions which behaves differently for ":*" and "0:?*" for the 2031, so
we can test? Perhaps, we are just misunderstanding each other. The test
case would help in finding out what we are speaking about.
