You are right. But that would mean even better numbers: about 42 uS/B.

I get the message: the bytes aren't sread out equally over the track.
What about 25 uS/B? Still better then the calculated 19 uS.

Maybe Commodore had already the 1.44 MB FDD in mind? No new hardware
needed, only software (if you forget about using the RAM as track
buffer). Or: see remark later.

You mean running at 4 MHz, why would that be needed? Or am I missing
something?

For us it is just the matter of piggybacking one IC and soldering one
single wire. Nothing more.
