I have the source code for the instance of hypermail I use to create the 
archive, yes. I have enabled all the spam protection settings there are (and 
even added some myself, I believe those were included in a subsequent 
release of the software).

The main problem with changing it is that it doesn't regenerate the entire 
archive, old pages are mostly not touched (only references added in some 
circumstances IIRC), so they would then have to be changed manually, and 
there are about 17000 posts in the archive.

Nothing is impossible, though.

me privately, and I'll send you a URL to a tarball.
