I built it on Linux and started it with:

$ xpet +sound -truedrive -superpet -cpu6809

After right-clicking and selecting "PET model settings" > "Model Defaults" > 
"SuperPET", it displays the power-on menu and the Waterloo monitor also works. 
  It's very impressive.

I'm using a version from a few days ago (r25248).  I was not able to do the 
above on the current SVN trunk (r25261).  When I tried it, the terminal 
printed many "*** DONGLE efxx := xx ***" messages and it never got to the 
Waterloo menu.
