The later rom had a couple of bug fixes, one of which disabled 
interrupts, which avoided data corruption in some scenario. I updated 
all my 1581's to the later version, but neither did i ever actually 
experience a problem with the old one. I know I found this info on the 
net somewhere but i can't find it now....
