I think to a problem of overheating
Or some almost dead condenser

Any small explosion like noise ?

When a tantalum condenser is aging, there is a crystallization inside
provoking a modification of the characteristics of the condenser and
sometimes short circuits. [in that case it may explode]

Was your 128 used or stored for years... ?

I bought a C128. It worked fine for about 24 hours. The picture started
flickering. More and more often. Then within about 3 hours, I had no
picture. Any ideas of what happened?

Ed
