The save with replace bug existed in ALL versions of Commodore DOS up to 
1541-II.  You can copy the contents of the 1541-II ROM into EPROMs and put 
them in older 1541s.  I have done that on mine, and they work fine.

The 1581 does not have the bug.

I think the last version of ROM for the 1571 does not have the bug either, 
but I'm not sure of that as I seldom use the 1571.
