Thanks, it's really interesting.

Recently I saw a web site sending an usb floppy disk controller 
able to read almost all formats. Including c64 into .D64

Yes, shouldn't be any problem. I used the AT29C256 to replace 
various 27xxx EPROMs in various systems. And don't forget Jim 
Brains 2364 replacements: the ROM-el, it are SMD EEPROMs on a PCB 
with pins to emulate the 2364 and other EPROMs.
