Your idea with the two ST225s made me realize that the above phrase 
isn't complete; it also should say that it is meant for the Bus 
Controller only. 
What you also should know: the ROM for the DC hasn't any reference 
to a second drive. And this made me go through the code again and I 
just discovered something else: unlike the 8250, and even the one-
drive 1541, the 9060 does not ORA the job code with the drive 
number i.e. bit 0 has no function at all.

There is a chunk of 1359, 590, 14 and 78 free bytes. It is doable: 
I programmed an image copier for my 1541IDE project.
