Ah, now I'm following you.

What I got is basically the light version, i.e. sans USB -- and only 
partly assembled so that I can solder in the connectors I need.

For a production board, the smaller form factor (i.e. dev board minus 
the space of 2 stripes of pin headers) might come in handy, yes.
