Never missed this feature so far, as I'm doing mostly firmware hacking 
with it. Here, I especially like AS's support for bankswitched memory 
maps, include features, and conditional assembly.

Btw, if it's just binding together individual object files, that is 
possible through P2BIN; but, yes, no proper linking due to the fact that 
AS doesn't produce linkable code.
