On the R65C00 Microprocessors datasheet, you will see this information 
starting on page 6 of the PDF ("Enhancements Over R6502").

However, this might not be an issue for running the firmware on the 6502 core 
in VICE.  The Commodore engineers were accustomed to programming the NMOS/HMOS 
versions of the 6502 at the time.  The 'C102 was probably chosen for the LCD 
primarily for its power consumption and availability at the time.  We won't 
know until disassembly but it's possible the firmware does not even take 
advantage of these extra features.
