At home I also have two broken 8296D, one with broken floppy drives and one
without floppy drives at all. On one of them the monitor has come loose.
Yesterday I tried to connect it to one of the 8000 series motherboards, but
no display on the screen. I may try tonight the other 8296D, if I can get
any sort of life from that monitor. And yes, I tried both 8296D motherboards
with the TV interface, but it didn't emit any video signal at all, so I
suppose both are dead. Perhaps the shell would be useful to build a PC
inside, and a small VGA-ish monitor tube in the top...
I will let you know if I make any progress.
