I haven't made the decision to go with a microcontroller just yet, I'm wondering if it might be easier to just design two separate boards for the two purposes I have in mind (using the transistor solution for one) rather than trying to make the one board fit both. I was just trying to recapture some of that Commodore-style ingenuity by killing two birds with one multi-purposed stone - but not sure if what I have in mind will turn out to be a big heavy rock instead! Besides, if you can make this work then it will be something to point to in the future the next time this question is asked... Message was sent through the cbm-hackers mailing list
