If I recall correctly, +5V is for the logic board and +12V is for
the mechanism, or if it is the other way around?. If the voltage
for the logic board is bad, it won't boot properly and the disk
will keep spinning infinitely? Of course there could be more severe
faults than that, but with my very limited experience, there is
where I would begin to investigate.
