RE: Is it a hard or soft sectored disk?

Well, I just went through a stack of my DD's and HD's.

All my (known to be) DD's had a metal or plastic ring in the center
hole.
None of my HD's had that.

Most of my DD's were a bit lighter in the magnetic surface color,
although this might not be an indication of anything ;-)

Only ONE presumably DD disk didn't have an enforced ring-thingy in the
middle and this was a disk I got from some copy party once. Now this
disk could theoretically be an HD disk. I have no trouble reading its
contents but I havent tried writing anything to it. It's a 1541 disk
btw. Could it be possible to write 1541 disks on HD's using some other
diskdrive than the 1541? ..like say a Catweasel controller and a 5.25"
HD drive? I mean wouldn't these disks still be readable on 1541?

Best Regards,
Ulf D. Harries
