You missed the point: your tool works for disassembling ROMs but I want to
assemble new or altered sources. And I really doubt if I can use your header
file mechanism because it places comments at fixed addresses. And with new
sources I have no idea what the addresses wil be anyway.

Regarding the above statement, I think I need one. AFAIK my assembler
doesn't use '<' or '>' with one exception. So after filtering out this
exception, it is just a matter of disregarding everything between '<' and
'>' to archieve the same result.

FYI: my disassembler generates an ASM file, I add the comment by hand and
use my assembler to generate a ROM (to compare it with the original) and a
LST (a listing that looks like your HTML).
