I'm not sure, either. It's been a long time since I used PASCAL myself.
More precisely, I did not use it very long, as I used PASCAL to learn C.

I don't think even the BASIC ROM uses them. Anyway, sometimes, it might
be helpfull. For example, you might want to output a REU address with
these functions?

Of course, this can always be done with the help of the 32 bit routines.
