It appears to be the number of platters - 4 heads vs 6 heads.

I'm including that in my .sig because at some as-yet-unannounced time, it will
change.  I want the humans who know me to get used to using a new address.  I
have been "erd@infinet.com" since 1993, when they were founded.  I'm most
annoyed that they are changing.  Once the domain name reverts, I'm dropping my
service from them.
