Yup; same here with a SUN monitor - fixed frequency, inverted SYNCs,
and about half a day fiddling around untill I found a working 
XFree86 modeline. As far as I can tell, no damage has been done..

Could someone please tell me that at least -one- of these Urban
Legends is true ? (the one that nearly every PC can be blown up
by software when the processor and the DMA controller access the
data/addressbus simultaniously)
