I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was only one version of the 1551 ROM. These things weren't made for long (rather like the computers) and barely saw any revisions. What I would like to know, however, is if anyone has a pull-down version (ALPS mechanism) of the 1551, rather than the twist-down (Mitsumi / Newtronics) that I have seen in all the internet pictures. The plus/4 manual clearly shows a pull-down 1551 in all its pictures, but as to whether such a thing was mass-produced... there was quite a delay between the plus/4 and Commodore actually releasing the 1551, so... ?
