Well, a C compiler isn't shipped with the system, but there are a few
free compilers, including gcc-2.7.2.1 which would be the obvious
choice for porting unix programs. The problem is that my old amiga
only has six megs of ram and that's a bit tight for gcc.

But not too different either. The ixemul library (at a mere 162 kB) is
essentially a BSD Unix kernel implemented as a shared library. With
its help it's possible to compile most unix programs.
